Whenever we go through hard times, times of trial, many thoughts fill our mind. For me most of the thoughts i have are filled with discontent about things around me.
Why hasn’t God answered my prayer yet?
Why does this thing seem so hard?
Why am I going through this?
I really want that thing, why don’t I have it?
But I am reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” So I am reminded to say “Thank You” to my Heavenly Father despite all that I go through.
Now, I choose to say
Thank You Lord Jesus for these trials that test my faith, for I know that the testing of my faith produces patience, and when patience has had its perfect work, I will be perfect and complete lacking nothing.
Trials lead us to completeness. I am slowly understanding that completeness is not the state of having all you could ever want, but it is understanding how much you already have and being thankful for it.
And we have a relationship with Jesus. He who holds everything together in Himself. Having a relationship with Him and sitting at Jesus’ feet is most important. We have learnt this from Mary, who chose to sat at Jesus’ feet as Martha was preoccupied with much serving.
