Soul is peaceful. Soul is at rest. Soul is in communion with the Father. There is nothing that he longs for than to be at His feet. To stay with Him at every moment. To enjoy the company of the Creator of the universe. To be known completely and intimately by the King of Kings. Soul is at peace. Soul is at rest.

Then enters stage right Devil. The father of lies. Whispers, whispers he utters to Mind. Mind reasons with Devil, “I have always wanted to be like God. I like the idea of knowing what is right and wrong. But He said that I shouldn’t do this”. Mind approaches Heart, “Haven’t you ever wanted to be free. To be able to make your own choices. To go where you want to go. Do what you want to do. Think about it. You know I can’t do this without you. Imagine what we could accomplish together.”

Heart likes what he hears. Mind spoke exactly what Heart wanted to hear. Heart’s disposition is at most times dark. Heart liked it and he goes for it.

Soul is in distress. He is tossed and turned as Heart and Mind battle to make a decision. Devil grins, “Everything is falling in place”. But the fight is not over. Soul sees from a distance a bright light. A vision of hope. Gallantly, Holy Spirit speeds into the battle ground and draws out His Sword.

Holy Spirit whispers, “I am your inheritance. You have no need of anything else. All you need is the Father, Spirit and Son”. Soul ponders, “Are the promises of God real? Can I trust that God is all He says He offers.” Soul is at the brink of breaking apart.

Holy Spirit whispers yet again, “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Heart is experiencing a shift. Suddenly Heart wants to listen to Holy Spirit. Heart starts to feel something different. His desires are changing. Heart mutters to himself, “What Holy Spirit is saying is true. I believe! I believe!” Mind hears the same words and is completely blown away by this truth, “This hope, the hope that does not disappoint, the love of God that has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us, is winning this battle for us.”

Holy Spirit thrusts the Sword his Devil’s chest.
